
David W. Smith has been the Senior Editor for TennisOne.com for the past six years. In addition to his over 200 magazine featured articles and TennisOne.com instructional pieces, Dave has also produced two top DVD’s: Building a World-Class Volley, (2010) and most recently, The Ultimate Serve Tune-up, (2011).
As an author, Dave has published the highly acclaimed tennis books, TENNIS MASTERY and COACHING MASTERY; both books have become top-sellers and focus on developing tennis players within his “Advanced Foundation” principles.Also, David is the co-author of the popular fictional novels HIDDEN MICKEY, a series of action-adventure mysteries for adults about Walt Disney and Disneyland. His newest book, a solo effort, HIDDEN MICKEY 5: Chasing New Frontiers was just released in August of 2011.
As a speaker, Dave has been a featured keynote speaker for many conventions, workshops, and lectures as well as at a number of USPTA conferences where he has been awarded “Speaker of the Year.” Dave also lectures on the art and business of writing, giving addresses on how to take a writing dream into a successful reality.
Dave is a Dunlop Master Professional and a USPTA member with a P-1 Rating, the highest in the industry. He has served on the Intermountain Board of the USPTA.
For 35 years, Dave has taught tennis to over 3000 players including over 100 state, national and world-ranked individuals. He and his father, the late Bruce Smith compiled one of the most successful tennis team records for any high school tennis team in the U.S., earning a 768-9 record between both coaches over a 22 year period at LaQuinta High School in Southern California.
In addition to tennis, Dave is a professional magician and musician; using magic, Dave has helped many learn and use magic to help teach tennis and entertain others. As a musician, Dave is a bass guitar player and has performed in hundreds of shows with various bands, including MAX in California and the Carlie Wall Band in Utah.
Dave resides in St. George, Utah with his wife, Dr. Kerri Smith, and their two children, Kyla and Keaton.
